Die alte Villa von Otto Schmeil, Anfang des 20. Jahrhunderts unweit des Heidelberger Schlosses erbaut, bietet heute der Schmeil-Stiftung Heimat. Wie nirgends sonst in Deutschland lässt sich hier noch die Begeisterung Otto Schmeils – insbesondere für die Botanik – erspüren. Die großzügigen Park- und Gartenanlagen, idyllisch oberhalb des Neckars gelegen, wurden noch von ihm selbst geplant und angelegt.
